Spiking Cochlea With System-Level Local Automatic Gain Control

چکیده
Including local automatic gain control (AGC) circuitry into a silicon cochlea design has been challenging because of transistor mismatch and model complexity. To address this, we present an alternative system-level algorithm that implements channel-specific AGC in spiking by measuring the output spike activity individual channels. The bandpass filter channel is adapted dynamically to input amplitude so average rate stays within defined range. Because this mechanism only needs counting adding operations, it can be implemented at low hardware cost future design. We evaluate impact on classification task where signal varies over 32dB Two classifier types receiving features were tested speech versus noise task. logistic regression achieves 6% improvement 40.8% relative accuracy when enabled. deep neural network shows similar for case higher mean 96% compared best 91% from classifier.

This paper proposes a new tactile sensor capable of automatically adjusting the sensitivity of each sensor unit, depending upon the contact information. Suppose a strain gauge based tactile sensor composed of multiple sub-sensor units and a single AD-DA port. For such a sensor system, we introduce two key components; the Analyzer, how to determine the contact force quickly from each sub-sensor ...

In the early years of radio circuits, fading (defined as slow variations in the amplitude of the received signals) required continuing adjustments in the receiver's gain in order to maintain a relative constant output signal. Such situation led to the design of circuits, which primary ideal function was to maintain a constant signal level at the output, regardless of the signal's variations at ...
